Did you ever play buzzword bingo in a meeting? Or classroom bingo during Physics with Ms Ungar?

The NDP are bringing back the fun: Debate Bingo! I wish somebody was holding debate parties, but I don't think any of my local friends are that political.

I'm really upset about the new debate format. Debates are one of the great aspects of a democracy and when you start limiting the actual debating through rules, it just becomes yet another avenue for the parties to pitch their message at a captive audience.

Last year's debates were both highly entertaining and highly informative, because it was the only time you really saw the leaders go "off book" and let their real feelings slip through.

This new debate format is going to water down the leadership debates almost as badly as American presidential debates. Maybe Liberal buzzword bingo will make it tolerable though :-)

Apparently the January debates revert to the "everybody shouts for a while" format. I'm 50/50 on it. I really want Canada to have substantive policy discussions, and in that regard I've actually been pleased by the slow-motion campaign thus far. January will be shit, at high volume, though.
