Work just confirmed for me that I'll be in Winnipeg for the last week of October. Exciting! Except for the minor detail that it's kinda cold there. There was a blizzard that shut down offices there the other day. But I'm sure it will be warmer than last time I was there, in December.

Suggestions on what to do, if anything?

Edit: Hide in the hotel, maybe.

It will likely be cold the last week of October, possibly as cold as it was in December, but it could also be as warm as Ontario at that time of year. Bring mitts, a hat. and boots if you want to do anything outside. You may want a scarf at that time of year. If you were here for Hallowe'en. you could check out how comical our kids look trying to wear costumes over their parkas and snow pants if it is cold that nite. Find out if any of your friends have "social" tickets. This is one of the pillars of Winnipeg nitelife. Small venues, loud music, door prizes, these are parties that are often thrown to raise money for weddings. October is not peak "social" season, though. If you like music, there is no shortage of live music in Osborne village any Friday or Saturday nite. There are also plenty of dance clubs all over the city. Assinaboine Park is always nice, right beside the zoo, which will likely have some sort of Halowe'en exhibition at that time of year. There is also the Corn Maze just south of the City. Fun if you have kids, again it usually has some sort of Halowe'en them in October. Fun even if you don't have kids. Have fun.

I'll be working at Portage and Main, and staying at a hotel three blocks away, with no car, so travel to anything is unlikely. I've never really seen any of Winnipeg yet, so I might try to explore a bit more this time.
