Not sure if anyone will find this interesting, but I love looking at front pages. I think I would love being the front page editor for a major paper. Anyway, here's what's headlining Canada's largest officially national papers (#2 and #3 in Canada, circulation-wise*) today:

* #1 is the Toronto Star, but they don't appear to post images of their front pages. Rude!

I've always thought that the perfect newspaper would be one using the National Post layout and the Globe and Mail contents.

Are you sure those were the correct links? I couldn't read any of that -- is was like it was in some foreign language!! :-)

*Hands a Spanish - English dictionary to Cam* :D

Ah! And please set me a romantic dinner with Eric Lindros. Thank you.

Um ... Cam ... they were from Chile. Clearly, they were written in Chilean. Duh.

Pfft! You can have him, he's useless. Eight concussions in eleven years -- "The Next One" indeed!

Oohhhhhhhhhhhhhh. So stupid of me.

Just want to have fun with him... not interested in his brain. :D

I like tall guys :D

Oh, I'm not interested in his brain either: he was supposed to be a hockey superstar, and ended up not-very-super at all.

He is tall though.

Thanks! I pride myself on my good humour, as my other social skills are sorely lacking.

I checked both sites, and neither appears to publish their front page images. Oh well.

Eric Lindros. Isn't he the guy who, when I was in high school, was supposed to be the next Wayne Gretzsky? And then he refused to join some team for some reason?

And isn't this Nova Scotian guy now supposed to be the next Wayne Gretzsky? How many next Wayne Gretzskies are we going to have?

Agreed. As for the car metaphor, I dunno:

Suzuki Swifts sold in six months: 408
Goals by Eric Lindros in eleven years: 356

Yes, and yes. But Gretzky, no 's'.

We'll have as many next Waynes Gretzkys as it takes, damnit!

Maybe we should start a formal succession process. Crosby can be crowned "Gretzky III".

That would be fun. It gets confusing though, because much like "miracle" it gets overused. Sidney Crosby is, at a minimum, Gretzky IV, since Mario Lemieux was the first Next One, and he actually turned out alright.

I recognized that name, too! I know so much about hockey now.

True story: when writing my post, I was sure that the hockey player was Guy LaFleur. At the last minute, I changed it to "some hockey player" in case my memory was faulty. (I didn't think to just check.)

Ah yes, good old Hair Club For Men Guy Lafleur! "If it's good enough for Guy, it's good enough for me!"

Maybe in hockey... we don't know in other "stuff"

I can't believe that *I* just thoroughly read an entire comments page re: sports.

Is this a sure sign of the apocalypse?

You just wanted to hear more about the hockey player.

Did you see the bottom of the Globe cover about Designer Vaginas? What's your opinion on decorating sex organs?

I'm pretty negative towards forced genital mutilation, like male or female circumcision. But when it comes to optional things, like piercings or Designer Vaginas, I suppose if that floats their boat, then hey. Definitely not something I'll sign up for.
