It seems that Canada has redefined an enduring tradition: our Governor General. The GG is purely a figurehead role whose job is only to sign federal legislation into law and dissolve parliament when asked. She keeps a stock of extra-powerful household chemicals just for that purpose. I'm convinced that Stephen Harper's last words are going to be "I'm melting away!"
