Some items:

Every day for weeks now the forecast has included either or both of these:
- Humidex advisory in effect
- Smog advisory in effect.

The past two days the temperature has been 35 degrees or higher, not including humidex. That's been over 40 pretty often.

In the morning, I see smoggy haze over the park.

We had a smog warning in February.

As much as the weather in Halifax drives one to drink, I miss it.

I love how weather is on the cutting edge of making up words, like "smog" and "humidex". I eagerly awaiting the invention of the smoomidex.

Wow, the word smog is much older than I thought!

Smog is a form of air pollution. The term was first used in 1905 to describe the combination of smoke and thick fog that at times hung over London and other cities in Britain. Today, smog also refers to a condition caused by the action of sunlight on the exhaust gases from automobiles and factories. This type of smog is sometimes called photochemical smog. --World Book Encyclopedia
