Seattle Thus Far
Feb. 20th, 2006 07:15 pmWe're in Seattle. Just 50 days after the last time we were here. It's cold. But fun. Staying as always with
petele, whose hotel we take advantage of far too often. Got to see
mashoe for the first time in four years (!) and we met his handsome and charming boyfriend Mike. Saw
rostin79 and
cap_hill_latte too.
Yesterday I saw Date Movie with some of the Seattle gang. What a (not surprisingly in any way) horrible movie. Just bonkers. Vinny chose a nap rather than the movie. Smart move.
I also went shopping at the University of Washington book store, which featured three books that our luggage now also features: Brokeback Mountain: From Story to Screenplay, Don't Know Much About Geography and Don't Know Much About the Universe. The last two were on super-deep discount, and the first one was full price, but since the Canadian dollar has been zooming upwards in the past year, the Canadian price (plus Canadian taxes) would have been much higher. Yay for more books I don't have time to read!
Today I went with Mike to the Arboretum and Plant Conservatory, and saw the really cool plants from all over. Saw crazy plants from Peru that live hanging from the branches of another tree, saw cactus plants of all sorts and shapes and managed to get out of the room without getting pricked by a single one (a new record for me), and learned what epiphyte means. Their featured plant family this (insert time period here) is Orchids. They had freaky-looking ones that I'd never seen, pretty neat. Vinny chose a nap rather than plants. He missed a quiet but cool time.
Tonight some more cross-border shopping, a chicken, and maybe some fondue. Who knows?
