What is the time when the number of minutes after midnight is nine times that of the number of minutes before noon?

Draw a timeline from midnight to noon. Divide it up into pieces.

Let's have x be the number of minutes in the answer.

And you know that x + 9x equals the total number of minutes between midnight and noon.

Does that help?

Don't give up!

x = 9y

x + 9y = 12 hours (12 hours between noon and midnight)

12 hours = 12 x 60 minutes = 720 minutes.

Trying to lead you in the right direction...
