I'm worried that the moron's going to get another four wars-- oops, I mean years. In that case, many Americans have threatened to move to Canada. First off, you're of course welcome! Just leave your guns at home, mmmkay?

But, hoping to trigger Murphy's Law, I'd like to start planning for this mass migration. Since the plans will be in motion, I hope they won't actually be required. (Now, there's a whole second argument that attempting to trigger Murphy's Law always creates the opposite result, but that would be OK since you're all totally cool.)

Here's how it works: in order for Canada to absorb y'all without too much pain, you need to fulfill different roles. For example, [livejournal.com profile] scott8424 will be the guy who works with the airline pilots, and [livejournal.com profile] get_busy_living will become a reporter. Please comment and figure out a unique role for yourself, first come first served!

Perfect! And we already have offices in Ottawa, Toronto, and Vancouver, so my transition will be made that much easier.

So I've heard, but have yet to discover first hand. About Vancouver that is, not your biases (or lack thereof). =)

Well I didnt know. SSI was set up here in the states, so I figured it was an American thing.

SSI is American only. In Canada we have something called Social Insurance Numbers (SIN). Also in Canada, we actually have a social insurance concept where peopl get supported, unlike the "sorry bud" approach for many Americans. :-)

Canada has at least eight or nine glbt publications, though only two near us right now. So lots of options!

But of course!! We need someone to fill the position of bannister-slider, if you're willing to practice a bit.

Sorry hun. Vancouver is wonderful, I agree, but it loses out to Montreal on several important points. But it makes a great place to visit! (esp for the olympics!)

Excellent. What position will Matt be taking?

naaaa...Montreal isn't all it's cracked up to be. It may have the culture, but that's about it. Our bars are now open later than Montreals - which is something they once had us beat on. But there's no beaches, no ocean, no good mountains or anything there. It's location location location!

Your bars were always open later -- you're three hours later in the timezones! :) (seriously, they're open to four now? crazy.)

Passports are another ID that's administered at the national level, too. But that's an obvious one. And our passports don't transmit your identity to passersby!

seriously: what's my new job?? :-)

Well, I never intended for this to become a rousing game of "Cam gives everyone else jobs" (though that can be fun too, depending on the jobs being given, cue laugh track).... but I think your job shall be soon-to-be-famous a cappella singer.

yeah, but i think i get bored easily... so one year's worth of amazing fame is better than 5 years that fades slowly and painfully.
