Is it bad to leave dirty dishes in the dishwasher of the apartment one has just vacated?

Just asking.

I think it's only bad if you still need to use those dishes (when clean of course) in your new residence. Otherwise, I see it as a nice housewarming gift for the new tenants.

It could be perceived as a kind of housewarming gift.

Didn't you say they got evicted? Maybe they didn't have time to do the dishes before the landlord rekeyed the locks...

No, no, in the apartment WE just vacated. I was being somewhat less than hypothetical. :)

They were-- *are* important dishes. We will be picking them up in a few hours. :)

I'd say that it's not really bad, unless of course the people are crack addicts and have no use for dishes... although you need them, so if they are crack addicts, it's probably horrible!

Well, I now think they're closer to crack addicts. I went tonight to pick up the dishes, and they had put them in a box and couldn't find them. So I've been asked to return tomorrow.

My pots are being held hostage.

Better the pots than the pot. Well, if ya smoke that stuff...
