Oy! I've been tagged! So here are 25 things you may not know about me. I just tagged you to ensure this information gets into my CIA file -- er, I mean, amuses someone. Yeah, that's it. You can ignore or apply the various rules if you wish.
1. I've only ever worked for one company full time in my life. However, that company is now on its fifth name since I arrived 8.5 years ago.
2. I don't like tomatoes, but I like almost *everything* made from them, including salsa that's practically just cut-up tomatoes. But if it really were that, I wouldn't like it.
3. I have never smoked anything, not even once, not even a little. I once tried inhaling through one of my dad's unlit cigarettes in junior high, and totally gagged. So when I complain about / judge smokers, I do it from the totally unsupportable basis of no experience.
4. I have never had anything pierced or tattooed. I've always wanted to, but can't think of anything that I liked enough to alter my body like that. Getting a cool-at-the-time single ear piercing when I was 13 was a catalyst for a big stressout I had about my dad.
5. I've had nine pets in my life, but have not been around for any of their deaths. At university, living in a different city, or the pet no longer lived with me. I am quite saddened when I think about Action Cat and Lucky (our current cats) getting old and sick.
6. I attended Catholic schools from age 6 to age 18, and my personal religious approach has varied from "Altar Boy applicant" to "Lapsed Catholic" to "Recovering Catholic" to "Angry at The Church". Not in that order. My spiritual approach is different but I don't have a pithy description of it yet.
7. I broke my boyfriend's heart in high school when I broke up with him. I broke up with him because I had cheated on him and didn't know how to deal with any aspect of the situation. It is a part of me so I don't regret that it happened, but I regret the pain I caused. I have only felt similar pain since for two other people, but I know I felt worse in high school because now I see everything I did wrong. Plus when you're a teenager you experience every emotion turned up to eleven.
8. I used to beat up my little brother something fierce, but he grew up to be bigger and stronger than me, and straight, but he never beats me up. In fact he's far more loving toward me than I was toward him growing up.
9. I have never lived in one home longer than five years. I have never lived in one province longer than eight and a half years in a row.
10. I have only spent 4.5 years of my life living full-time in Atlantic Canada (in Halifax), though I did spend 36 months in university in Fredericton, but I feel more at capital-h Home in Atlantic Canada than anywhere else I've lived. I know this would change if I really lived there of course.
11. I have been on softball, track, volleyball, badminton, chess, and improv teams. All before age 18.
12. I have acted in nearly a dozen different plays, directed three, stage managed a few, built sets, done lights, auditioned for a few others, and been on the board of Kitchener-Waterloo Little Theatre. But I'm totally uninvolved here in Toronto for all sorts of little reasons that don't really add up to a good excuse.
13. I have never worn unmatched socks.
14. I once had a paper route delivering the Toronto Star in Ottawa.
15. I spent over 198 hours in airplanes during 2008, and flew over 121,000 kilometres. Mostly for work.
16. I collect airplanes, but I let airlines borrow them. (I track which airplanes I've been on - not just types, but actual registration numbers)
17. I try to be very environmentally aware, but my two biggest weaknesses are airplanes and loooong hot showers.
18. I've had six boyfriends.
19. Four different people have told me I look like Matt Damon. I disagree, but I accept the ego-boost graciously.
20. I was 23 the first time I was drunk.
21. I danced on stage with Bryan Adams in 1992 (with several other fans).
22. Farthest points of my life (you can plug them into Google Maps):
North: 53.564N, 113.616W
South: 29.86S, 31.04E (actually most East too)
West: 21.362N, 157.954W
East: 37.936N, 23.947E
(betcha didn't think you'd get homework just from reading this!)
23. I have never broken a bone, but I've torn a frenulum. (ouch!)
24. I have a half-brother I've never met.
25. I once joined the gym at a university I hadn't attended yet, and used the membership to sit in the pool and talk about life with my best friend.
