Class Act.

Iraqi court issues verdict on one of the multiple concurrent trials of Saddam Hussein. Death, as expected.

US government is paying $90 million of the Iraqi courts' $145 million annual expenses.

The verdict isn't done being written, but the announcement was completely coincidentally made just in time for the Sunday talk shows in the US, and to affect the election tomorrow.

I wish I was evil so I could appreciate this more.

Strategy

Microsoft's strategy in every business encounter can be summarized as follows:

1. Ignore
2. Fight
3. "Embrace"
4. "Extend"
5. Extinguish

This oversimplifies a bit, but is generally accurate.

I don't mean this to be a put-down of Microsoft: they are extremely good at what they do, and inasmuch as we accept that the current system is acceptable, they should be applauded.

Anyway. This news means that we have entered stage three of the above list.
