That's an update about "major appliances" as Sears calls them. Not a major update.

The washer is very cool. I actually watched almost the whole cycle. I'm easily amused. It's very quiet. The dryer, on the other hand, is not quiet. It's making a small scraping sound. And it set off the smoke detector. I think it's not strong enough to ventilate by itself (the distance from the dryer up and into the ceiling and then out to the outside is significant), so turning on the fan seemed to help. It didn't appear to overheat or anything after that. But the scraping sound (kinda like ball bearings with no oil) worries me. So a technician will be coming to check it out on Thursday.

NOw it's time to paint nearly nude. It's safer that way, otherwise I'd get all my clothes covered in paint (I'm painting the ceiling). Clumsy? Yes. Fun? Also yes.

The entire condo has stucco ceilings. And for the most part it's OK, the stucco is the typical fairly-easy-to-paint variety. But in the kitchen there's a different type, which crumbles as soon as you touch it. So painting takes forever, since the roller gets covered in stucco almost instantly. I was getting about four square feet per hour painted. And that's just the bad first coat.

How to make a big mess: decide the loose stucco's gotta go, and scrape the entire ceiling with a putty knife. Goodness what a mess. The ceiling is better (I hope), but so much for the nice clean anything. :)

Having decided that I want the condo as tidy (read: wireless) as possible, I purchased a USB 802.11g transceiver today. I hope I don't end up regretting it.

It's time for Vinny to come home. I'm talking to the furniture.
