a) How relieving! The Liberals survived, with a minority government (so they've been slapped by the voters, but not removed).
b) How depressing! The NDP, after spending more money than in a couple elections combined, gained only five more seats, primarily due to fears that the Conservatives might win -- "strategic" voting. ARGH.

Voter turnout is down again, but I suspect it would've been lower if not for the heavy 'get out and do it' advertising this campaign.

It is? Crap! I was hoping there might be an uptick. Next year's rematch is gonna be worse, everybody hates voting often (except for us geeks, maybe).

We had a fairly steady turnout at the polling station I worked at. I was surprised it was still low across the country.

It was an interesting election to watch. The experts were even wrong but hey, that's the joy of watching elections. You don't know what will happen.

It's also the horror.

It made for an enjoyable watching experience.

In 2 years, we will be back to the polls. Cheer up.

At least your marriage is still valid....

Maybe it's just all of the US politics I've been exposed to lately, but I'd much rather see the NDP lose votes to stratigic voting than see the Conservatives have power.

At last weekend's Pride march someone tried to get me to sign a petition to put Nader on the ballot in Washington state. Luckily, the guy behind me told her everything I was about to say about why no one in their right mind wants Nader running (except, of course, the Republicans) so I could just decline with an "I'm not a US citizen". (Granted, stratigic voting has much more effect with the whole US you-vote-for-a-guy-not-a-party system.)
