EW.com rates the top albums from 1983-2008

What was I thinking deciding to build a poll this big?

[Poll #1209895]

WHAT. No wonder Stereogum.com was so upset about this. In Rainbows is a good album. A great album. But better than OK Computer? Absolutely not. Also, Interpol WISHES they were better than My Bloody Valentine. GEEZ.

UGH. Not to mention, the Black Album gets a mention, but I don't see any other Metallica. Where is ...And Justice For All? Or Master of Puppets, considered by many to be the best heavy metal album of the 80s?!?! And heavy rock in general is pretty much ignored...Alice In Chains Dirt? Slayer Reign In Blood? I don't see ANY Tool on here! This list is giving me an ulcer. :-)

It's a list of Zeitgeist! Zeitgeist I tell you!

ummm, i've stopped buying albums/cds/records/tapes, so it's kind of hard to really answer the poll! eek!

I checked off the ones I ever owned - I'm pretty sure my music collection got shrunk in our many moved around Canada.

I love that Portishead, Nine Inch Nails, and Radiohead all made the top 100. :-)

I love that I own the top 3. I mean, part of me doesn't care about it of course, but part of me says "validation!!"

(also I'm completely surprised that I'm the only owner of Purple Rain. It's wonderful.)

I'm sure I'll be downloading it soon enough, since I'm such a pop culture whore. ;-)

iTunes is messing this up for me. I rarely buy full albums anymore, but I've bought singles for many albums on the list.

1 out of 100 for me.... #74. Play, Moby (1999)

I too listed albums that I currently or at one point owned. Including vinyl (say, Madonna,s "Madonna" album). And the internet has messed some of this up for me...

And the fact that only one REM album made it... I mean, yes, it was a good album, but there were some stronger ones.

I need to make my own personal REM best of collection. I wonder if I could keep it down to 50 songs?
