Pop can go bad?

I just opened two different cans of Diet Pepsi that were marked best before Jan 22 2007. They tasted awful!

I then opened a can marked best before August 2007, and it tastes normal Hooray!

This once happened to me with a bottle of Coke Zero, as well as a bottle of Diet Coke with lime - both were "expired" and tasted absolutely dreadful.

Nothing to fear, though: I contacted the Coca-Cola company and they informed me that nothing had spoiled, and it wouldn't make me ill. It would just taste like crap, and end of story.

Oh yeah, I found it reassuring actually. It's nice to know that it's at least simple enough to still go bad.

Well sure! Soda is yucky and has no flavour -- soda water, I suppose you might call it. :)

Don't poke fun, especially since the Brits/Aussies/Kiwis call it Fizzy Drink, which is far more mirth-worthy.
