(no subject)

Wil Wheaton just made me smile the widest I'm smiled all day.

"Be sure to turn the page when you hear R2-D2 whistle."

I used to HAVE that book, with accompanying VINYL FREAKING RECORD.

(note to [livejournal.com profile] alliensis, [livejournal.com profile] fiver00, [livejournal.com profile] jfgenius, and [livejournal.com profile] aairn: there used to be these things called "records", which were made out of vinyl (sometimes pants were too), and they contained music or other sounds. Now they just contain pompous recordings from music superstars.)

It was so cool. I can still hear Darth Vader's Tie Fighter roaring by me during the story.

*smile*

(he was writing about completely unrelated things, fyi)

Were you reading his website, or his new book?

I remember records too. :)

Website. I've read most of his first book (because it's all weblog stories) but I still plan to purchase. I'm definitely getting his second book when it appears too.

I remember I had that book. With the record. Maybe that's why I seem to know the basic Star Wars story lines without ever having seen the full movies.

Wait. More complete memory returning. It was my birthday, in second grade. I invited four kids, they were in my living room. I got the book and record from my friend Jacob Mazerolle (coincidentally, [livejournal.com profile] gueny's first cousin.)

But I never actually listened to the record. My little brother took a tantrum during the party and snapped the vinyl in two pieces. I don't even think he got in trouble for it.

I'm calling my dad when I get home.

You're calling your dad?? Shit, this is serious.

I give away the ending then. Carrie Fisher is Harrison Ford's nephew.

But C3PO is still gay, right?

Oh yeah, he's still R2s bitch.

I know what records are like, silly. I have an ex-audiophile for a father.

Besides, I'm enamored of ancient history. :P
