Canada Day in Toronto?

...so what do people down here in the centre of the universe do for the most important holiday, anyhoo?  I want fun and fireworks! We'll be in Niagara Falls for half the day, so really I'm just worried about the fireworks portion of Canada Day. Suggestions?

If I could trade places with you for a day, I would. You know just how much I love Ottawa Canada Day celebrations.

LOL - I know! I just need to teleport several people all at once. Is Nortel working on that technology? :)

Not that I know of. If there's some sort of communications channel needed to transport the people bits, Nortel might get involved. Fiberoptic travel would be the ideal way to go - it's blissfully free of Native blockades of the 401 and rail lines.

I know this has nothing to do with fireworks, and you'll miss it anyway because you'll be in Niagara Falls, but thought I'd let you know that there is an extremely cute small-town like parade that winds it way thru the Riverdale/East York area during Canada Day morning. All the local politicians (MPs, MPPs, Councillors - always including Jack Layton), the Shriners, car dealerships, vintage car enthusiasts, etc. Very cheesy. When we used to live on Pape, we used to sit on our porch and watch it go by every year. There would always be about 12 of us in a three block stretch of street, watching the parade -- not a big crowd event. It does go down O'Connor at some point, but not sure if it passes thru your stretch.

Jack Layton in a parade is NOT a selling feature. I saw him in a TO Pride parade a couple of years ago. He was dancing. It was horrifying. There's no way he's ever going to be prime minister with those dance moves!

I can imagine the horror. But no dancing in this parade -- far too risque for this part of town. Lots of waving of little Canada flags, though. I seem to recall that Jack is usually riding his bike.
