Ontario Referendum on MMP

Some of you may be aware that Ontario's Citizens' Assembly on Electoral Reform has recommended a new voting system for Ontario. The full report (PDF) has the details. Some supporters of proportional representation (PR) are thrilled to see it, some people are concerned that the system has some flaws, and some are against it.
If you live in Ontario and are a citizen by October 10th, be sure to vote!

Seeing MMP in action down here has been interesting. One unexpected side effect is that while you do end up with a closer image of the country in parliament, you also end up with several fringe parties that can cause a fair bit of grief.

I mean, while you may get some Greens, you'll also get the anti-immigration and religious contigents too.

I actually put in my last post BEFORE reading the columnist's article.
It basically says the same thing though, while MMP would change politics, it probably won't be in the way many people want/expect.

Although at the end of the day I do think it's a better system than FPP.
