Office Rage

Dear Coworkers,

Please stop using an apostrophe in every goddamn word you pluralize. I know you can't be bothered to remain literate with all the regular work you're expected to do, but for fuck's sake.

Seriously.

Sincerely,
Cameron

I should forward this to my coworkers. And, in fact, 98.37% of all Internet users.

Perhaps you would be suited to a career in the exciting world of Unsolicited Commercial Email!

Have you read Eats, Shoots & Leaves? Based on this post, you'd likely enjoy it.

I haven't, but yes, I know I would!

I can lend it to you. It's a great book (with a whole chapter on the apostrophe).

Shit... the grammar nazi in me would probably have spit fire right between the eyes of any guilty party :-P

Cam, why aren't you an English teacher?

I would get in trouble for swearing. :)

On that same point, I love the fact that so so many people think "its" and "it's" are interchangeable. What a nice and flexible approach to the written language.

Yes. I've started complaining about it more often. Not to coworkers (yet), but to companies that we have hired to do stuff at least.

Biggest pet peeve EVER. And I can't fathom why, when keystrokes are in such demand that people feel they need to conserve them with substitutions such as "u", that people feel compelled to make that extra erroneous keystroke in the plural form of so many words.

[identity profile] c9.livejournal.com 2006-08-04 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly! The keystroke shortage is far too serious for this! :)
