T

On Saturday, walking down Barrington Street* with [livejournal.com profile] leapfish, I spotted a t-shirt that made me laugh a lot, and once Vin had it explained, made him frown a lot.
I weigh the same
as a duck

* yes, the one in Hello City.

I know a few people who would LOVE that shirt. :)

but do you float?

[identity profile] c9.livejournal.com 2006-02-13 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
But see that's the beauty of the system -- no float test is required! Sheesh, don't you know anything about the ways of science? :)

I live in the southern US where they're trying to teach ducks, wood and floating in public schools these days. I'm an old-schooler.

Ahh yes, that new science I keep hearing about from the White House.

We have stickers in our science text books here that read: Floating Ducks are Just a Theory.

Excellent! I think there really ought to be stickers like that. You could make them here: http://www.makestickers.com/stickerpricing.asp

Did the sun shine on Barrington Street?

[identity profile] c9.livejournal.com 2006-02-13 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
It certainly did! Not yesterday in the storm, but last week and today.

[identity profile] amnewsboy.livejournal.com 2006-02-13 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe half the fault's mine.

(Sorry, couldn't resist.)

[identity profile] c9.livejournal.com 2006-02-13 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
:-) Nobody's blaming you.

at least not out loud...

[identity profile] nihilicious.livejournal.com 2006-02-13 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL. Sad to have gotten it.

[identity profile] cap-hill-latte.livejournal.com 2006-02-13 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't get it.

[identity profile] c9.livejournal.com 2006-02-13 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Go watch Holy Grail and then check back in with us.

For Sarah

...Don't say I didn't get you anything for Valentine's.

[identity profile] cap-hill-latte.livejournal.com 2006-02-13 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. I never did get Monty Python...

Witch Shirt on Barrington

(Anonymous) 2006-02-14 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
Proof that a Witch weighs the same as a Duck

W + D = 2A. (Given)
W = 2A - D. (Subtract D)
W - 2A = -D (Subtract 2A)
W(W - 2A) = W(-D) (Multiply by W)
W(W - 2A) = (2A - D)(-D) (Substitute 2A-D for W using the given equation)
W² - 2AW = -2AD + D² (Distribute)
W² - 2AW + A² = D² - 2AD + A² (Add A²)
(W-A)(W-A)=(D-A)(D-A). (Factor)
(W-A)² = (D-A)^2. (An expression times itself equals the expression squared)
(W-A) = (D-A) (Square root)
W = D
