Explosive Science

Nova Scotia is apparently going to switch over to a newer variety of apple called a honeycrisp. From the CBC article:
The Honeycrisp is a cross between a Macoun and a Honeygold. It was developed at the University of Minnesota and grows well in colder climates. The university's Horticultural Science department describes the apple as "explosively crisp."
...or maybe the marketing department?? Explosive? Really? Sheesh.

Yeah, I'm sorry. I deal with a lot of scientists over the course of a day, and none of them are creative enough to suggest that an apple is explosively crisp... all marketing.

does it explode in your mouth? it wouldn't be so popular, i would think...

The honeycrisp is an amazing apple -- not too big, not too small, definitely not soft and not as tart as a granny smith but not too sweet like a red delicious. Stores well, smells great, works in cooking, durable...

I like honeycrisps. A lot. Maybe you noticed.

But how does it taste... to hell with being explosively crisp, that could because the thing isn't ripe!
