I wish that swearing in livejournal actually helped. Putting a really big swear word like this

should really have more of a calming effect. I'm trying to sand the bumps in the kitchen so we can do our final touch ups and actually be done, but the goddamned motherfucking piece of shit walls keep peeling. I was told our paint was peeling that way last time due to a lack of primer. So this time we primed, twice, the whole fucking room. Did it help? No. I really hate this sort of shit. The primary issue is that I don't have any patience for this, so when I see 3 cm worth of progress after 1 m worth of sanding, I get pissed off and stop being careful, and then it just gets worse.

I'm so tempted to just call a painter in to fix it, but after the plumbing fiasco I know it will be some insane number of dollars, and we can't even afford a sane number of dollars, really. There's something to be said for renting, where you only care just the bare minimum about the place.

I'm going to finish my Lime Pepsi (mmmmmmm) and then finish the toe-kicks. At least those require no sanding nor any paint, so I can successfully complete them without fucking up too horribly. My specialty. :)

I know I'm being too down, this is just a venting, worry not.

Happiness in Cam's heart is served so much more through humour than actual swearing. :) Also I knew that if I put 'motherfucker' in six-inch high letters like I originally planned, all my serious friends would get upset. God knows the hot kilt boy icon was enough for them. :-P

If I may offer... it may not be a priming problem... there has to be compatability between the primer and the paint...

For example, if you use an oil-based primer and then paint using a water-based product over it, it ends up like what you are describing. I had this problem in my master bedroom when I was painting.

The solution, can be as simple as sanding and painting over where you sanded.

But I'm guessing here. Sorry. :-\

Thanks, but the primer and paint are both latex and in fact both from the same company. And strangely, the peeling is right down to the plaster, the primer and paint just lift right off. We were told this was due to a lack of primer when the old paint did it, but now we know that's not true since we primed beforehand. Whatever. I'm calling a professional tomorrow, our lives have enough stress without this sort of shit causing ulcers. :)

that happened when i painted my bedroom in one of my old apartments. i just said fuck it and let it be.

but i didn't have to live there for longer than a year, so it didn't really matter to me. good luck, i hope you find a solution!

I had that problem painting the trim in my grandmother's bedroom. I ended up using a primer with the lovely non-toxic name Kilz. Still not as good as I'd have liked, but it worked.

We're taking possession of the new house on 1 October, and we're trying to budget so that we can have professionals come in and do everything. I'm hoping we can hire a "handyman" rather than certified electricians and plumbers, so we can save about a third on the labour costs.
