"Some people prostitute themselves for different costs or different prices," he told the Regina Leader-Post. "She sold out for a cabinet position."

I don't recall anybody calling Scott Brison a whore for doing exactly the same thing.

My letter to the editor*:

It's not surprising many Canadian voters stay away from the Tories, even when angry about Liberal corruption. After all, Maurice Vellacott, Saskatchewan Tory MP, and Tony Abbott, Alberta Tory MPP, called Belinda Stronach a whore and a prostitute yesterday. Ignoring the hyperbole, why did nobody call Scott Brison such names for doing exactly the same thing? Sounds like a conservative old boys' club to me.

* I certainly could have gone into greater depth, and been more balanced, but my goal is to dissemminate widely the prostitute and whore quotes.

I'd say it's because she's prettier than Scott Brison, and has better hair.

Oh, and she performs sexual favours for money. (It's true!)

It's the same reason you have "activist judges" in the US when they want to give gay people equal rights, but "a fair and balanced judiciary" when they rule to keep a vegetable alive.

On our side, we have Jim Jeffords and Zell Miller.

Miller, former Democratic senator and governor from Georgia, has been criticizing the Democrats for straying from their values. He's being branded a traitor to his party.

Meanwhile, the Democrats heaped praise on Jeffords, the Republican senator from Vermont. When the 2000 election results came in, and it was determined that the Republicans had a 51-49 majority, Jeffords left the party and became a Democrat-aligned Independent in exchange for key committee assignements.

In 2002, and again in 2004, the Republican majorities in both houses increased. Jeffords is ranking minority member on the Senate Committee on the Environment, but other than that I think he's the most unimportant and useless person in the Senate.
