Literally Mad As Hell

Canadian TV anchor Peter Kent has decided to run for the Tories in the upcoming election. In his nomination speech, he said that he is "literally mad as hell." I'm trying to think of ways to disprove this. Literally can be replaced by actually to check if it's being used correctly (i.e. "I'm actually being mauled to death by this tiger!"). But I don't know how mad hell really is.

Is he mad as hell, and not gonna take it anymore?

Entirely possible. I think the speech may have continued in that tired, clichéd vein.

It's sad when a journalist is misusing words such as "literally."

your icon reflects your sadness surprisingly well.

I am literally intrigued by your fascination with the misuse of the word "literally"...literally.

I think hell is pretty mad. I suspect he's only really as mad as, say, Mississauga.

We're pretty close to Mississauga now, and I'd have to agree.

or else mississauga will get angrier at me

At least Mississauga has a mall...

He's running in my riding too. I'm sure that will be *fun*.

In any case, I'd suggest that it is more his job to prove it, not yours to disprove. In this vein, one can suggest that he go to hell, to find out precisely how mad it is.
