Visit to the Vet

Well, the boys are starting to learn what the carriers mean. I guess they couldn't stay stupid forever. They were a little less pleasant at the vet today, but not horrible.

Action Cat has a broken tooth that we never noticed!! The vet says it's almost guaranteed to cause problems at some point, so an extraction or a root canal is the best route to take. Sheesh.

New food (again). Vet checked out Lucky's diarrhea problems (but not mine), and suggested the special magic expensive scientific intestinal diet. We shall see.

I'm currently at work, talking a suicidal server back from the ledge.

What I do to make the cats more comfortable in the carrier is take the door off of it and leave it out, they play in it and sleep in it now. Its no problem to take them to the vet at all. You should try that.

our cat in F'ton had a damaged tooth for years, never had a problem. Your vet sounds like s/he's on a cash grab.

Just flush the cats, it's worth it in the long run. :-P

I did almost that today. I combed them both in the bathroom, and threw the discarded fur into the toilet. As I flushed, and just before it exited the bowl, it looked like a gerbil down there.

The tooth in question (one of his fangs (incisors?)) is broken at the halfway point to his gum, with the 'pulp' showing. (see http://www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/anatomy/teeth/toothanatomy.shtml for human-tooth diagram) Perhaps it's more serious? Dunno.

I like to throw it (cat hair and dog hair both) off the balcony. I envision all the local birdies with nice warm, fuzzy fur-lined nests. I do the same thing with my dryer lint (which is 85% pet hair on the best days).

They have not shown any interest in the keyboard yet. Perhaps if I turn on the voice-recognition software.

Feed them in the carriers. They'll develop warm fuzzy feelings towards them. It makes it easy to betray their trust when it suits you.
