O T T A W A

I'm in Ottawa. Teaching for Polar Bear (my company). It's weird. You know how maritimers complain about upper canada being all snotty and less friendly? It's true. I've never noticed it this much because until now I'd always been coming home to visit friends and family. Here I'm at an office where I know nobody. The office is nice, much larger than ours in Halifax, but also much more secure. To get to important and interesting areas (sales, operations staff) you have to go through a combination-locked door, so I actually haven't met many people yet. Plus my books are late, and I'm on edge being in a different office. In Halifax I have power, knowing how to do stuff that nobody else knows, but here I'm expendable -- so I have to do well and show off! :-) So it should be quite the day.

Small world... I took a certification exam at Polar Bear at the end of April. Can't remember if I saw you there or not. I recall one of the banks had a number of people in to learn Word (I think). The teaching went ahead as I recall.

I didn't find Ottawa all that bad when I was there a number of years ago.

Oh, I love Ottawa. I miss it a lot. It's just when I notice something new and realize that it's not familiar anymore, that's all. Not claiming this is new, everybody that leaves somewhere goes through this I suppose... :)
