Headache-inducing AND amusing...

In honour of [livejournal.com profile] cap_hill_latte's plans, I offer up this confusing column in the Times. It still sounds better than what Bush hath wrought so far, actually.

For those not privy to my plans:

"In a desperate attempt to keep my sanity, I’ve decided that – until Wednesday anyway – my attitude towards the election will be “detached amusement”.

If you need me, I’ll be hiding under the bed watching reruns of The Daily Show."

OK, the whole Electoral College thing just f'ing sucks. It's that simple.

Thanks to Wikipedia, I've discovered a much better way of electing democracies... better than instant run-off, which I always thought was a little... well... rinky-dink: the confusing, non-intuitive, hard-to-understand Condorcet Method -- it's perfect -- no one would be able to argue who won or lost because no one could follow the procedure used to elect people :-) Actually, it's not that hard, and it does make sense, but it's regrettably less viscerally satisfying than first past the post.
