The Marc Hall Soap Opera-ization

1. Why is Gary Beals, who has performed at anti-gay (ostensibly just "pro-traditional-marriage") rallies, a sponsor of Prom Queen: The Marc Hall Story?

2. Why are the writers so down on Doug Elliott, the lawyer for Marc? He's a good guy, and they wrote him as a schmuck.

3. Why, oh why, is this movie so filled with stereotypes? Maybe CTV should pay their writers more.

toby and i watched that movie. and you're right: i know NOTHING about the actual story, but they did make the lawyer look really mean. not too bad a movie, though, for what it was, i mean.

The movie was pretty awful. I thought it was especially down on the lawyer character. But, I think it had a caveat saying that none of the characters were based on their real-life counter-parts except Marc.

I am pretty sure Marc Hall's lawyer was David Corbett (now Justice Corbett)--whom I have met and who is pretty much the exact opposite of the character in the movie.

You are correct:

I am confusing this case with another one that Elliott was involved with, I guess.

I think that's an easy mistake, since DOug Elliott has been involved ith almost all of the major gay rights cases in Canada.

I have not met him, but apparently he's sort of eccentric.
