Strategy

Microsoft's strategy in every business encounter can be summarized as follows:

1. Ignore
2. Fight
3. "Embrace"
4. "Extend"
5. Extinguish

This oversimplifies a bit, but is generally accurate.

I don't mean this to be a put-down of Microsoft: they are extremely good at what they do, and inasmuch as we accept that the current system is acceptable, they should be applauded.

Anyway. This news means that we have entered stage three of the above list.
